Cell Project Space

In Conversation with Lisa Le Feuvre, Marcus Coates, Ian Brown, Johanna Hällsten

Lisa Le Feuvre is a freelance curator and writer based in London, where she teaches on the postgraduate curatorial programme in the Department of Art at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She is appointed to curate British Art Show 7 with Tom Morton scheduled for 2010. Between 2005 and 2009 she directed the contemporary art programme at the National Maritime Museum. Exhibitions have included 'Dan Holdsworth: At the Edge of Space, Parts 1- 3'; 'Lawrence Weiner: Inherent in the Rhumb Line' and 'Simon Patterson: the Undersea World and Other Stories.' She has staged exhibitions at the CCA, Glasgow; Photographer's Gallery, London; MOT International, London; Cell Project Space, London and Arts Council England.

Exhibiting artist Marcus Coates' recent solo exhibitions include The Whitechapel, London, and Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead. In 2009 he was selected for the 2009 Tate Triennial, 'Altermodern' curated by Nicolas Bourriaud at Tate Britain, London. He is represented by Workplace Gallery, Gateshead.

Exhibiting artist Johanna Hällsten has shown in London, Stockholm, Kunming, and Princeton amongst others. Alongside her art practice she presents papers and writes (IAPL, Wuhan University, US, IIAA, Finland etc), she is included in several books and journals.

Exhibiting artist Ian Brown is the curator of 'TRYING TO COPE WITH THINGS THAT AREN'T HUMAN (PART ONE)'. He has had exhibitions throughout the UK, USA and Europe. Brown is also part of the collaborative artist's group, Common Culture, with David Campbell and Mark Durden. Common Culture have had recent shows and events at Void, Derry, Photographer's Gallery, London; Solar, Vila do Conde, Portugal and as part of Variable Capital at the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool. They exhibited in the 6th Shanghai Biennial and were also selected by curator Hou Hanru to be part of EV+A, Limerick 08. Common Culture are represented by 'Third Space Gallery', Belfast.

The accompanying publication, comprised of specially commissioned artworks by Paul Rooney, Heather and Ivan Morison, Richard T. Walker, Annika Ström, Ian Brown, Ryan Gander, Francis McKee and Alex Pearl, will be available on sale for £7.00.
