Why Celebrities Holiday in Mallorca
By Lucie Evans
Mallorca is a popular holiday destination among celebrities,
with Antonio Banderas, Kerry Katona, Catherine-Zeta Jones and
Michael Douglas frequently going on villa holidays to Mallorca.
The celebrities all have their own reasons for habitually
returning to the island for their summer holidays. Read more to
find out what these are.
Celebrities Who Love Mallorca
Antonio Banderas owns a holiday villa in Mallorca, as do
Michael Douglas and Catherine-Zeta Jones. The latter two own a
£4million castle-like villa positioned on a hill affording
beautiful views over the island. Michael says that he loves
Mallorca for its landscape and rich history, and stays in his
Mallorca villa as frequently as possible.
According to Kerry Katona, Mallorca is the ideal summer holiday
destination, where you can experience British culture in a
Mediterranean destination. She says she loves staying in a
luxury villa in Mallorca with friends, and they enjoy the
British entertainment the island has to offer, from karaoke
nights to restaurants serving English cuisine.
What the Celebrities Love About Mallorca
The band of celebrities who holiday in Mallorca love both the
island’s northern and southern regions for different reasons.
The south has stretching golden beaches coupled with sheltered
coves, and you can make use of charming cycle paths as you ride
past quaint windmills during your Mallorca villa holiday. With
loosely populated beaches for tanning, swimming and peace and
quiet, the south is definitely a good spot for a luxury Mallorca
villa.
Celebrities love the north too, for its dramatic scenery and
busy little villages. With mountains to climb (if you’re feeling
energetic) and plunging cliffs, the scenery is spectacular in
this part of the island. If you go for a Mallorca villa rental
in the north you can enjoy leisurely strolls along cliff paths,
through the town centres and through the villages.
Celebrities’ Favourite Beaches
Es Trenc is a wild, stretching beach with deserted dunes behind
it, perfect for some peace and quiet on a Mallorca villa
holiday. Other quiet beaches include Cala Pi, a quiet little
cove, and Cala d’Or, a relatively undeveloped beach.
Port d-Alcudia is a busier beach and can get fairly crowded in
summer, but its fine white sands are great to lie on, as you
soak up the hot sun on your Mallorca villa holiday.
Mallorca Celebrity Nightlife
With bars and restaurants aplenty, its no wonder celebrities
purchase Mallorca villas, where convenience is key with
everything in such close proximity. If you’re on a Mallorca
villa holiday and you feel like a night of partying, the towns
of Port de Pollensa and Port d’Alcudia have a few local
nightclubs and discos where you can dance the night away. You
might not spot a celebrity in them, but you will have a good
night out.
Island Cuisine
One of the reasons Kerry Katona loves her Mallorca villa
holidays is for the English-style food she is able to get there.
But if you prefer to dine on the local cuisine, traditional
Spanish dishes are served in most of the restaurants on the
island. From paella to gazpacho to sobrassada and ensaimada,
delicious Spanish and Mediterranean island cuisine await you.
Fresh seafood is the island’s speciality, where you can enjoy
mussels, prawns and a variety of other shellfish on your
Mallorca villa holiday.
